Upload and edit media
Upload files, edit metadata, replace files, and set image focal points.
Access
Uploading a new asset requires backend.read and content.create. Editing fields, replacing the file, or changing a focal point requires content.update. Publish and Set draft require content.publish and content.unpublish respectively, with matching Asset type scope.
Upload and finish the asset
- Open Media, choose the Asset type, and select Upload.
- Let the resumable upload finish, then open the new asset.
- Fill its fields and select Save.
- Select Replace to change the file. Keep the old file until the replacement is verified.
- For an image, set or clear its focal point directly on the preview.
- Select Preview, then Publish when the file and fields are ready.
Replacement uses version checking. If another update won, reload before trying again. File processing has no durable Processing, Ready, or Failed status in this screen, so use the preview as the practical check.
The asset editor does not currently provide locale, schedule, version-history, archive, delete, or named image-style preview controls. Upload and bulk controls in the Media list are not fully hidden by permission; unauthorized requests fail at the server.
