Edit Taxonomy

Create, localize, move, archive, restore, or delete Vocabularies and Terms.

Use Taxonomy to manage controlled classification. Prefer archiving a Term when existing content still uses it.

Create and edit

  1. Create a Vocabulary with Name, Key, and Description. The key cannot be edited in the current screen.
  2. Open the Vocabulary’s Terms, Fields, or Settings tab.
  3. Add a Term with its required default localization, optional other localizations and custom values, and at most one parent.
  4. Move or reorder Terms with drag-and-drop or keyboard controls. Cycles, cross-Vocabulary parents, depth above 32, stale Vocabulary versions, and duplicate keys or labels are rejected.
  5. Archive a Term to prevent new assignments; restore it to make assignments available again.

Loading the workspace requires backend.read, vocabulary.read, and the relevant term.read grants. Each change uses its own permission: vocabulary.create, vocabulary.update, term.create, term.update, or term.move, with the required Backend, Vocabulary, and optional Locale scopes.

Delete carefully

Use the impact preflight before hard deletion. term.delete fails closed while the Term has children, assignments, revisions, active Release staged or rollback dependencies, or Term references. vocabulary.delete requires an empty Vocabulary that no Taxonomy field targets.

Deleting a Vocabulary or Term requires vocabulary.delete or term.delete with matching scope.
